The Headboard

I finally got pictures of this.  (I don't live in the same town as my family.  Kinda hard to get these from three hours away.)

My dad made this headboard for my youngest sister.  This makes me want to get rid of my bedroom furniture.  (It's not that I don't like it, it's just, well, very storebought matchy-matchy.  Not very creative at all.)

I am sure he was not the designer.  And no, he did not carve inside the squares.  They bought those plaques and added them.

The walls look like a light greyish blue, but actually they are more aqua.  But, to get enough light for you to see the detail on the dark bed, it changed the color.  It's also Venetian plaster, but that is a whole 'nother post...

Let Them Eat Cake

Conversation with my treat grindel daughter, my sister, and me...

Me:  Mallory, go to bed.

Mallory:  No.  Seriously.  There is cake.

Me to Jackie:  This is what she does to get my attention.  She uses the word "seriously."

Jackie to Mallory:  New rule-You can't use words that you don't know how to spell.

Mallory:  I can spell cake.

Just in case you were thinking of ordering some of these treats for your next party, these are not real desserts.

They are dollhouse miniatures made by Jojo with Fimo clay.

And they don't taste as good as they look.

Life is Beautiful Album

The cover of this album is clear acrylic.  The rub-on says "Life is Beautiful."

All papers and embellishments are from Little Yellow Bicycle.

Library pocket page- you know I love pockets.

I left the backing on some embellishments so that a larger picture could be placed behind it.

The right side is a clear page.

This means the back side needs to have pieces that cover the same spots.  Fun!

If you recognize this album, you may have gone to Creating Keepsakes University and taken the same class as me.

Life is beautiful-go enjoy it!  And take pictures so you can put them in this album!

Goodwill Lamp Redo

Before:

After:

Remember when I broke this lamp?  I tried to find another one just like it (knowing I never would.)  Then I thought I could find one to spraypaint and use the lampshade since it was not damaged in the catastrophe.

Before:
I found this one at Goodwill to replace it.  Don''t be nervous.  Spraypaint works wonders.

After:

So what do ya think?   Does it look like a $2 lamp?

(BTW, the framed picture is one I took of my sister and her husband for their engagement photos.  It's one of those that looks totally different when you turn it black and white.  Love that!)

July Coaster

"I don't want bacon or egg on my croissant.  Maybe they could, like, drizzle some chocolate on it or something like that." (at BK drive-through).

BTW, these little coasters have magnets on the back and fit into an album (which also has magnets, so they stick together, and the coaster stays in, see how that works?)  Nifty, but not necessary.  You could use any paper coaster that you have.  Like the ones at Chili's Restaurant, but I am not condoning stealing.  Just cover it in cute paper.  I got this at a Creating Keepsakes University so I am not sure who makes it-sorry.

Butterfly Birthday Bag

If you are like us, you go crazy with the birthday theme!

Jojo made this cute bag for my daughter's birthday gift since she had a butterfly themed girl birthday party.  She put tulle under a cupcake liner flower with a butterfly cut with my Slice machine on top. Have you ever made flowers with cupcake liners? So easy!

I'm pretty sure this was a recycled bag that had permanent marker written on the front. Shhh! Don't tell. Go Green, ya'll!!

You can see more of the butterfly birthday party here. And here. Annnnnd here. Obnoxious, I know.

Now I am off to go enjoy some summer!

Disney Mini (Not Minnie) Album

I finally finished it.  It only took a year.  This is why my New Year's Resolution was "no more mini albums."  But my new studio is going to help me work much faster, right?

I took about a thousand pictures trying to get good ones, but I still don't feel like they came out very well.  I can only do so much with the lighting I have.  I just don't have a room in my house where light pours in.

The thing I love about this album, is it has pockets on every page.  They weren't so fun to cover with paper, but I love tags and this album is perfect for them.  Sadly, I do not think you can get them anymore.  I got this one from Rusty Pickle which was going out of business.

I found these cute journaling cards from KI Memories that were perfect for the colors in this album.

This page was made using mainly the Oliver and Olivia collection by Basic Grey papers.  I wish I could remember who makes the aqua blue letters because I really like them.  They are velvety.  And I could drape myself in velvet.  (Not really-that is a line from Seinfeld. And it is way too hot in Louisiana for any sort of velvet wearing.)

I also used some paper from the Urban Prairie collection.
This paper and the letter stickers were from the June Bug collection (my all-time favorite paper collection ever made.  It is double-sided which I also love).

Most of the ribbons were from the dollar bins at Michael's.

If you happen to go to Epcot Center at Disneyworld, make sure you get some of that delicious Norwegian rice pudding at Akersush.  Or the goat cheese that looked like chocolate.  (If you can't hear sarcasm over the internet, that is me being sarcastic.  If my husband doesn't like it, there is no way I am trying it and he did NOT like it.  Well...maybe he liked the goat cheese, but still, I am not trying it.)

All of the journaling stickers came with the Basic Grey paper collection.  Love that!!

The red glitter letters are by Making Memories and yes, they are real.  (My daughter asked that question about EVERYTHING she saw at Disney.)

I made a yo-yo flower and layered it between prima paper flowers, then stuck a flower pin (by K&Company) in it for the embellishment.

Thanks for looking!!
