Valentine's Memory Banner

Have you made your valentines yet?

I used Crate Paper's Love Notes collection to make these cards.

My new fringe scissors came in handy for this one.

This little chipboard heart needed a little color, so I raided my daughter's stash and found a princess paint pen. I love the aqua pearlized touch.

Doilies make valentines cuter! And mini puffy heart stickers! I used the sewing machine on this one. The mini clothespins from Target Dollar Spot were the perfect touch.

The Slice Machine was used to cut the heart out of the center of the pink ombre paper.

A Basic Grey chipboard frame covered in more princess paint completed this one.

Mini alpha stickers worked perfectly.

Letters and hearts were cut from patterned paper to make this card.

Class Valentines

Class valentines this year are handmade, handsewn by me. Because I got a new sewing machine from my mom for Christmas.

And too much time on my hands, apparently. I made twenty-five of these.

Want to know what is in these sewn hearts?

I found tiny notebooks and mini colored gel pens from Target Dollar Spot to stuff inside. The kids simply rip them open to get the treats.

I had this cute red basket for my daughter to bring them to class in.

I would do a tutorial on how to make these, but if you have a sewing machine, you probably know how to use it much better than I do. My biggest tip is to remember to stuff the treats into the heart before sewing it all the way closed. I may or may not have forgotten once or twice.

Repurposed Organizer

I was in a craft store awhile back and saw some organizer with feet thingys and thought they were super cute. And then I saw the price tag.

Seventy-five dollars!!!

It didn't take long to figure out that it was basically a utensil organizer on steroids. For $75. Not gonna happen.
So I kept my eyes open for one that I could repurpose myself. Because I need more DIY action around here.

I found one at my sister's garage sale. I painted it light Aqua with leftover paint and added knobs for feet that I already had from my daughter's old curtains and some dresser hardware I found in Canton. Total for this refinish? $1.25!!!!
Not including all of my Valentine's goodies, of course.

Smash

Do you Smash? I love this new idea for scrapbooking.

It is so much easier.  You don't have to think about where to place a bunch of doo-dads.  Got pictures?  Got tickets?  Smash 'em in a book.  Done.  I love little pockets and washi tape.  This album is perfect for the tiny pictures from my Instax Mini Camera.

You can buy these little quote pages, also.  Love that.  I happen to have a pretty funny kid who says things that I like to record to embarass her with later.

You could buy a Smash album, but I used this address book from Michael's.  I just covered the words "Address Book" with a chipboard piece from Basic Grey.

sWITCHeroo

This was an easy Halloween scrapbook page to make.  (I glued down the orange paper before looking at the brand name on the back.  OOPS!)  I don't often buy expensive paper, but this one was too cute to pass up. I think those are Christmas letters, but I don't care.  It works for me.

First pic:  The "I am only sort of smiling cause my mom is forcing me" face.
Second pic: The "ha-ha I got my way" face.

I wrote right on the page for the journaling on this one.  Makes it easier.  You should show your handwriting anyway.  People will want to see that in forty years.  I like to see my grandmother's handwriting on her old recipe cards.  Back when people actually practiced cursive writing.  Do kids even learn that in school anymore??  What are we gonna have-millions of old text message saved on some sim card somewhere that we have no way to access?  Too weird for words.  Literally.

October Coaster Scrapbook

Halloween is one of my favorite times of year. I think it is partly because the weather is finally cooling off around here.
I thought I would share my October coaster from my scrapbook.

Cinderella:  I know how to draw a wermaid.
Me:  Oh.  Where did you learn to draw a wermaid?
Cinderella:  I just thunk of it myself.

Halloween Mini Album

Halloween will be here before you know it.  (Anyone know where to find costumes no one else will be wearing without spending a fortune??)

I like this Making Memories album because it is not nearly as hard to scrap the costume pic as doing the full 12 x 12 layout.  I got the kit several years ago, but I just saw the puffy alphas and some of the embellishments from this line at Michael's.

Nice and easy.  That's my style.  Not really.  I like to make things as complicated as possible until I (and everyone around me) is ready to scream.

See?  Picture and a few doo-dads.  Done.

Oops!  Gave away my secret.  I never put last year's pic in and now it is almost Halloween again.  Oh well.  Maybe I will get it finished before next year.
Then again, maybe not.

Mini Flags

You know I love anything miniature.  And anything that I can make using stuff I already own.  I did not buy anything to make this little project.  But, it is so small, really it didn't take much stuff.

My mom gave me a container of random little wooden pieces a long time ago.  My daughter loves to paint them.  This little spool was in there.  I had the paper scraps from a banner I made last year.  They are from the Martha Stewart Halloween collection.  The white tiny alphas are Making Memories and leftover from my Disney album.  The pearls were purchased to use in my sister's wedding album, which is on my table being finished right now.  Shhhhh!  Coming soon!  and you won't want to miss it!
The baker's twine can be found at the cutest little scrapbook store ever in Scott, Louisiana called Create 365.  The best part was I only had to buy a tiny bit of each color instead of an enormous spool that I will never finish. The yellow mini alphas were purchased there as well for only one dollar!  Visit the store or visit them on Facebook.
I know those look like toothpicks, but they are called craft picks and I have no idea what their purpose is, but they were perfect for this.  I have a sneaking suspicion they are circa 1982.  Good thing my mom keeps everything.

This tiny project was inspired by Janet Hopkins and hers is much better so check it out here.

School mini album

Somehow I keep getting the pictures out of order. Sorry!
I pretty much used stuff I already had for this one. I made the frame on the bulletin board page out of balsa wood from Michael's. The "tacks" are small brads. The border was made using scalloped scissors and my old crimper to look like the border that teachers use for classroom bulletin boards. And yes, I cut my kid's class picture-but no one got cut out. This mixed up mini was inspired by Ali Edward's "Evolution" style album.
