Elf on the Shelf Ideas

Sparky has been very mischievous lately.

Sparky, our Elf on the Shelf, is taking a trip down memory lane, looking at the Christmas scrapbook.

We found our elf snuggled up in the American Girl Doll Bed. Marie Grace isn't too happy with him.

So the next day we found him taped up with her washi tape.

Sparky thinks he can win the sack race with stuffed animals.

Uh-oh. Sparky came back from the North Pole with a warning message from Santa.  Someone has been cleaning up her Calico Critters.

Sneaky elf is hiding behind the mini Christmas tree in the bathroom.

One morning, little girl had to go on a hunt for Sparky and her Advent Calendar gift. You can see more details here. I have a set of these in my etsy store.

Elf Hunt

Sometimes it is really hard to find teeny tiny stuff to fit in the advent calendar. In all of my infinite wisdom, I purchased the really cute advent calendar with the tiniest compartments ever because I thought it would be less expensive to buy miniature things. So not the case.

So, little girl had to go on a hunt for her gift as well as the Elf on the Shelf this morning because the gift wouldn't fit behind that miniature door.

I made clue cards in little envelopes because my daughter is a TSL like me. Tiny Sh@# Lover. Go to www.kellehampton.com to find out more. This is part of why I convinced myself that tiny doors on advent calendars are awesome. But in all seriousness, what is cuter than tiny envelopes? With tiny notecards inside?

Nothing, that's what.

I wrote clues on the little cards. Micron pens came in handy for writing on these tiny spaces.

I used mini alpha stamps and red mini glitter numbers.

Let's face it. This was as much for me as her. I would've LOVED this! I put some snowflake "glitter" (basically confetti) inside each envelope and in front of the final hiding spot. Miniature snowflakes. Love it.

The last clue led to our elf and a reusable hand warmer-great for cold mornings at the bus stop.

*My daughter is old enough to be able to read the clues and figure them out. She is also old enough to know not to climb inside of the dryer. I am not recommending that you send a young child on a hunt to the inside of a dryer. I also followed my child around just to make sure. *

Are you a fellow TSL?

Sleighjacked!

The elf was up to his old antics again last night.

He coaxed the reindeer off the fireplace mantel and hooked them up to the sleigh.

Silly Elfie.

Look at the smile on his face.

He's having way to much fun with this.

Elf Antics

Elfie is a curious little guy.

This particular elf wants to know what this Easter thing is all about this Christmas season.

Checking out the panoramic sugar Easter egg is what this Elf on the Shelf is into this morning. I got this egg from World Market. But that was in the Spring.

Maybe it's just me, but I find it pretty funny that he is actually an elf on an actual shelf this morning.

Elfie Selfie

Elfie found my Mini Instax camera last night and tried to take a selfie.

He didn't do a very good job.

He didn't even get his face. It's just a blur.

You may have noticed this is not our usual elf, Sparky.

I hate to say, I almost forgot that it was time for elves to appear even though Christmas is everywhere. And I thought I knew where our elf was. I know I saw it recently. But now I can't find it. GASP! In my defense, we moved recently. So, Sparky is buried under boxes somewhere and can't get out. Elfie is my mom's elf and I think he is pretty cute.
But he better stay away from my camera.
At least until he learns to take a decent picture.

More Elf on the Shelf

Even with all of the ideas out there, it is still easy to get stuck in a rut with your Elf.
Here are a couple of ideas that I have not seen on the internet. Sparky found a perfect shelf in the tub to remind my forgetful little one to pick up in the bathroom.

Our sneaky elf got into my nephew's diaper bag and tried to steal some puffs. My daughter got a kick out of this one.

One night, Sparky got the envie (cajun for craving) for some candy. He tried to wheel the Christmas parade stash away in Marie Grace's shopping cart.  Marie Grace is our American Girl doll.  She is good at sharing. But I am not. Gimme back my banana tootsie pop. You don't find those every day.

Elf Update

Sparky decided he needed a midnight snack.

We found him in the dollhouse drinking the milk that was in the Advent calendar yesterday with cookies.

Elf in a Bird Cage

Sparky was a bad boy last night.  Look where we found him.

He climbed on top of the armoire, into the birdcage and was trying to catch the bird.  Or strangle the bird ornament.

Elf On the Shelf

If your kid is like mine, she LOVES pillow pets.  Can't get enough.  Personally, I don't see the fascination.  Last year, the gift that she was most excited about was a lady bug pillow pet.  In fact, she was more excited about that than any gift she has ever gotten.  So at Target last night, she coerced me into buying this miniature keychain pillow pet to match the bigger one.

Now, normally I am not persuaded to buy toys right before Christmas.  But she was very persuasive.  So it came home with us.  And look where we found it this morning.  Our mischievous little elf likes pillow pets, too.  And this one is the perfect size for him.  Little Girl was tickled to find Sparky resting on her lady bug under the tree.
