My kid's teachers are getting these for Valentine's Day. Can you guess what it is?

 

 

It is a velvet heart shaped scarf hanger! I love it. Who doesn't need a place to hang scarves? I think they are the perfect teacher gift for Valentine's Day.

Class Valentines

Class valentines this year are handmade, handsewn by me. Because I got a new sewing machine from my mom for Christmas.

 

                        

 

And too much time on my hands, apparently. I made twenty-five of these.

I found tiny notebooks and mini colored gel pens from Target Dollar Spot to stuff inside. The kids simply rip them open to get the treats.

    

 

 

 

I had this cute red basket for my daughter to bring them to class in.

 

I would do a tutorial on how to make these, but if you have a sewing machine, you probably know how to use it much better than I do. My biggest tip is to remember to stuff the treats into the heart before sewing it all the way closed. I may or may not have forgotten once or twice.

Christmas Teacher Gifts

 

 

Teachers are getting these cuties for Christmas this year.

 

 

 

I found these clips and thought they would be perfect to hold a cute card.

 

 

 

I used Crate Paper Sleigh Ride Collection paper and chipboard embellishments to decorate library pockets.

 

 

Then, made a card with a gift card attached to slip inside.

 

I think they turned out pretty cute. I wish I could keep one for myself!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Christmas Teacher Gift Basket

I have to post conversations with my kid because sometimes I wonder if everyone has these sort of talks with their children. Please tell me this is normal.

Her: Mom, would you eat a fried ant for $10?

Me: No.

Her: Would you eat a fried ant for $100?

Me: Ummmm depends on the day. 

Her: I would do it for five. 

Me: Nice.

Anyways. My parents have a Satsuma tree and we all hate to see them go to waste. It makes more than all of us can possibly eat.

So I thought it would be nice to make a gift a basket with some of the satsumas and some pecans for the faculty at my daughter's school. My daughter eats one for lunch everyday. They are not too sour and really yummy. Plus, they are really easy to peel. 

The plastic glittery snowflake that I already had was perfect to use as a backdrop for the tag. I used a chipboard ornament and paper from the Sleigh Ride Collection by Crate Paper with some other chipboard. I found the plastic crate in the dollar bins at Target. I hope the faculty like this gift basket!

Instagram Photo Album

Looking for a great Christmas gift? 

Have you seen these yet? It's a 4x4 album for all of those precious Instagram photos you've taken all year. I love that it has the little label slot on the spine. 

I like to put graphics and words on my Instagram pictures, especially quotes from all of the children in my family. 

So I really wanted to print these to make a sort of scrapbook. 

These albums from We R Memory Keepers are leather and come in lots of colors. I wanted metallic gold but it sold out so I got greige for myself and my sister. To make it an even better gift, fill it with pictures like I did.

I haven't seen these Instagram albums in stores. I ordered mine and paid for it myself from Amazon but I do get paid a small amount if you click the link and order one. Or two!

Thanksgiving Teacher Gifts

Scentsy has a wonderful new scent called Pumpkin Marshmallow that you must try. I love it, so I decided the teachers should get a brick as well. Printable tags were found online. Actually, these are lunchbox notes and I printed them last year, so I don't remember where I found them (sorry!!), but there are lots of cute free printables out there. I laminated them because I have a laminator, but if you print on card stock you could skip that step. Punched a hole with my Crop-a-dile, and tied with a cute ribbon. The teachers will love it! Halloween Teacher Gift

The teachers are getting small tokens of appreciation for Halloween. I was a teacher, so I know how unexpected gifts made my whole day and frankly, helped me survive. Anyone who talks smack about teachers should have to sub. That's all I'm saying. 

               

***OH. MY. GOODNESS. I just drove by a sign that says we are getting Hobby Lobby five minutes from my house!!! No, I am not blogging and driving. I am waiting on my daughter to get out of gymnastics class.****

Guest towels are a gift I would have liked. There are so many cute ones out there and I love letting my guests use paper towels instead of sharing a hand towel. Why, oh why didn't I buy myself a package of these?? I might have to go back and get some from Marshall's.

                 

I made the tags with leftover cardboard packaging. (No, I am not a hoarder. If it doesn't fit in the one drawer, I don't keep it. It's amazing how often I use this stuff. The thin cardboard is perfect for tags and embellishments.)

                 

I stamped the back instead of writing with pen, because the stripes were embossed and shiny, so ink would run.

                

Staz-on ink is perfect for surfaces where ink would run. It goes on dark and stays on. 

 I purchased this ink pad myself. I am recommending it because I truly do like it, but if you click the link and buy some, I do get paid a small amount.

                

The tiny alphabet stamps can be found in dollar bins at Michael's. Love these!!

If you give a Halloween gift to your teacher, she will love it. I promise!

Fall Tussie Mussie

I recently saw a BOO cone and thought it would be cute to make one with my Crate Paper Acorn Avenue Collection kit. So I did. But I am not leaving it on anyone's door. Although I might make one for my daughter's teachers. I filled this fall tussie mussie with autumn colored Sixlets. Wouldn't this make a great teacher gift?

Happy First Day Teacher Gift

Ready or not-school starts! My daughter has already gone back-to-school. And she was NOT ready.

When she got to school, she was seated at a table with several girls in the back and she was happy. Later, she was moved to a table in the front with mostly boys. Not Happy. In fact, she said, "I was so mad, I almost blew a casket!!" 

She needs to go to school, y'all.

After finding enormous paper clip photo holders at Tuesday Morning, I thought I would make "Happy First Day" cards for her teachers. I bought all they had, but when I went back, they had more in an oil rubbed bronze color. 

I used a Crate Paper Acorn Avenue Collection set with other stuff I had. Since these were teacher gifts, I thought it highly appropriate to use the library pockets with a card inside. I was given these library pockets my first year teaching by our super helpful librarian. Thanks, Judy!! I used them a lot, and I am STILL using them!

When I was a teacher, I would've loved this token of appreciation.

Christmas Teacher Gifts

This year the teachers are getting survival kits. 

 Cute chevron embroidered survival kits. 

With tags my nine year old made herself.

Filled with all sorts of things you might need in your classroom or your car like vitamins, gum, band-aids, stylish kleenex, drink powder, lint roller, wisp brushes, and of course, a shammy. Everyone needs a shammy.

Gift Bucket

Why is it so fun to get or give a gift basket?  Or in this case gift bucket?

I made this for a friend in the hospital after delivering her baby girl.  Someone told me about a recipe for chicken soup using 6 canned goods.  I tried it and liked it.  So, I thought maybe it would make a good gift.  Especially if it is wrapped in a super cute green bucket from the dollar bins at Target.  (It was actually $2.50, but still a great deal.)  You'll never guess what I made the monogram with.  Shelf liner!!  Shhhhh! don't tell my secrets!  It was on clearance at Michael's so I bought several different patterns because I just knew it would work like vinyl cut with my Slice machine or Cricut.  

I added a bag of Fritos and a cute recipe card to the basket.  You could even add shredded cheese to the gift basket if you are delivering to the recipient's home. Everything for a complete meal without having to try too hard.  Everything goes in one pot. No need to remember to thaw something or dirty lots of dishes if you seriously don't feel like cooking OR going out.  Or having pizza delivered.  Am I the only girl in America that doesn't care for pizza much?

6 Can Taco Soup:
Rotel
Whole Kernel Corn
Black Beans
Chicken Broth
Can of Chicken
Cream of Chicken soup
+ Taco Seasoning packet

Mix all ingredients in a pot and simmer.
(Most of the time, I actually cook chicken in the pot first and then add all ingredients except canned chicken. In a pinch, it works with canned chicken.)

Vintage Circus Shower

                        The vintage circus shower for my sister was inspired by an Anthropologie catalog.

This was one of my favorite parties ever.  I love this theme.

Jordan and my dad made the sandwich board sign.  She and I both painted the letters.  (That was a lot of painting, but I love how it turned out.)

An easy decoration for any party is to display the invitation. Especially if the invitation is handmade and really, really cute. I found this frame at Goodwill with the intention of painting the dark bronzish colored frame and purple flower "painting."  I forgot a before pic, but you can imagine.  I spraypainted it red and covered a piece of cardboard with fabric to frame the invitation.  The invitations were a collaboration by all the sisters and my mom.  The tiny banner said "It's a Boy!" (It better be.)

Aunt Mandy made the cake.  Awesome!  (And it tasted good, too.  It really did.  Like I ate four pieces good.  And they were three layers each.)

Jordan found these buckets at the dollar store.  Wish I had a before pic.  She painted them to look like the thingy the seal stands on at the circus.  So cute!

Jordan cut the circus tent shape with the good ole Cricut machine.  (That thing came in handy for this party, especially, because we found a circus-themed cartridge.)  We made scratch-off tickets according to a recipe using paint and liquid dish soap that we found on Pinterest.  We made one mistake, though.  If you try it, make sure you write on the ticket BEFORE you laminate it.  Then paint.  I laminated first and the permanent marker scratched right off with the paint.  Which meant we did not know who won the prize.  Not good.

We did manage to give away some prizes with the Bebe bingo game.  All the gifts were given a number sticker.  As the expectant mom opened gifts, the number was called out for guests to mark on their cards.

Aunt Sandy made these cards for guests to record wishes for the baby.  These are made with thick cardstock scrapbook paper which can be made into a mini album later.

Can't have a circus without candied apples, right?  Jordan cut the leaves out with the Cricut and stamped "Thank You" on them.  How cute is that?  These would be precious teacher gifts.  My mom and sis-in-law said they were not hard to make using the box of mix from the grocery store.  You will need a candy thermometer, though.  The apples tasted really good, too.  They were a huge hit. (I didn't even get one cause they were all gone.Still mad about that.)

Jena made the diaper "cake".  Yep, there's diapers in there.  Jordan made the "Congrats" banner with the Cricut and she made the tissue balls.

My sister's friend, Heather, made the cake pops.  German Chocolate and Red Velvet.  Can you believe this was her first time ever to make cake pops??  She got the idea from www.bakerella.com. I love how they were displayed in the porcelain popcorn bucket.

I made the tiny banner and added it to this thing I thought looked like a popcorn cart.  I think maybe it is made to hold potted plants.  My mom found these tiny popcorn cartons that we filled with caramel popcorn for guests to take.

OK, so maybe we shouldn't have called attention to the ugly ceiling of the building where we hosted the shower, but the pennant banner sure was festive.  Everyone had their hands on this one, because there was so darn much of it. We all helped make it.
